I always hear people talking about submitting to directories to increase backlinks. Well, what's so good about it? I mean, most directories require a reciprocal link AND payment, right? Is it really that beneficial and worthy to submit to a directory?
I use directories to promote clickbank products. It's great for organic traffic. I made $250 this week submitting articles to article directories with very little effort.
Bill I am waiting for the ebook you are selling. Article marketing is ALOT of effort if you want to make decent money with it.
There are literally a million free directories. Most aren't worth your time though. If you look around this board and elsewhere you'll find a number of choices for either special offers to submit your site, or a list of a few hundred good directories to handle by hand by yourself.
Check out http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php They have a list of high quality directories, and you can arrange the list to just show free directories.
A directory is a well organized structure of website links. If people still use them to get resources so they are useful for SEO purposes they are really worthless.
Overture, formerly called GoTo, is a "pay for placement" search engine in which top placement in search results is given to the highest bidder. It is being included in the Directory Submission area because top bidders on Overture get high visibility placement (usually in the form of Sponsored Links) on the top of Yahoo and other directories partnered with Overture. There are two ways to get listed with Overture. First, to get the best results, you can bid on a set of keywords, and pay based on the number of people that find your Web site by searching for those keywords. For example, a top bid for a given keyword might be $0.25. If 10 people find your site by searching in Overture for that keyword, you would pay $2.50. Payment is based on clicks, so you don't pay unless someone actually clicks on a link to find your site through Overture. This is the best way to get traffic from Overture.
Some of the larger directories, although paid, do have a positive impact on rankings. The first thing I do with a new site is get some big directory links in there and that alone is enough to start pushing the site. It might cost me a few hundred dollars but its worth it. Plus, if it costs that much, they are all free from spam.
I have read so many articles they say that submitting to directories has no value in SEO now. What are the latest techniques of SEO now.?
