I personally consider myself very conservative. In fact, I live in the "Reddest" county in the USA (I think 96% or 97% of the county voted for Bush last time). However, after watching the way that McCain and Huckabee are playing "anyone but Romney" I'm left wondering, "What is so bad about a Democrat?" I hear people at work say things like, "Oh, if Hillary gets in that won't be good" or "I just don't know if our country could handle Obama." To me socialized health care might just be good. A few doctors could use a good humbling in their pay if you ask me. Sure they went to college for 3x the amount of time I did, but the few I know sure make a lot more than 3x the amount I do. I guess I am just very young in politics. This is only the 2nd time I can vote for the President in my life. I just want to know what is so "bad" about Democrats. They are people and have feelings and opinions too, so please make educated comments and not just heresy from your friends at work.
frankly a democrat is all we can hope for right now, im not sure on obama and hillary's views on the war but im guessing they both want to pull out or atleast i know obama does. Which is obviously good. The insane republicans want to stay in for years and mccain was quoted he would stay in if it took 100 years or something. So i mean since ron paul doesnt have a chance because of the media black out and its kinda to far in to make a difference anymore then i'm shootin for obama.
I agree that it is too bad Ron Paul didn't get more attention. He did have some very different ideas that may have helped our economy. It seems all the attention he received was negative attention.
There's nothing wrong with a Democrat. Just two different ways of running the same government into the ground Personally I'm conservative, but am hoping for a Democrat. I wish Ron Paul would run independent though, since I was unable to vote in the Republican caucus here.
Oh and I also think that there is no way a Republican will be elected. ESPECIALLY if McCain gets in. He is like a Bush clone I swear.
Yes. I definitely disagree with his worldview. We don't need to go attacking Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela. It's sickening when you have to destroy other nations in order to stimulate your own economy. Consume, Consume, Consume. I actually ended up going to the Democratic caucus in my district and voting for Edwards. I'm weary of Clinton. I don't want to see the same two families running this country for 28 years.
That could quite possibly be the largest understatement on this forum ever in it's history. It will be an utter disaster. How many more Bushes and Clinton's do the American people want? Have you Americans not had enough of them yet??? @ killafawk, out of all of the candidates with a chance Obama does seem to be for the troop withdrawal from the illegal occupation of Iraq but I would take most of what he says with a large pinch of salt.
Not wrong with being a democrat its just a different view on how to run this country. As for socialized medicine Romany tried that in Massachusetts, the medical cost over there are rising twice as fast as inflation and in percentage terms are one of the highest in the national. Also don't you think that by capping the pay of doctors you'll have some of the smartest and best doctors leaving the field why spend 12 years schooling to capped pay when you can become an investment banker and bring home 20 million dollars a year working just as many hours. So at the end of the day do you want a third rate doctor operating on your head or heart. I sure wouldn't
The original Democrats, Jefferson, Madison and Jackson were anti-Federalists. Classic liberals which is different from today's social liberals. The Democrat party used to believe in small government, individual liberty, and sound money. Today, Democrats are big government folks, interventionists and believe that compassionate socialism is justification for wealth distribution, which I consider an assault on personal liberty. As the OP said, some Democrats are regular people, even very good people. But the party platform and politics are not very American IMO.
A lot of the democrat that won in congress are still small government democrats which is what is helping stop democrats from implementing some of there tax and spend ideas.

And Obama keeps spending money on the war: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/03/22/obama_defends_votes_in_favor_of_iraq_funding/ It should be clear by now that this two-party system is a sham.
Im all for Hilary Clinton. I hope she becomes president. Will be similar to Bill i think. And i thought Bill did a very good job.
If she is similar to Bill this worries me a bit. Bill had everything going for him especially with the Dot Com Boom. I don't forsee another one of those happening anytime soon, but if she can do it Go Her! I just wonder if Bill will be her Vice-President and the real Vice-President will be a 3rd wheel.
Yeh thats my main worry aswell. I predict Bill will be running the show behind the scenes. Anyway if he does it should be another successful term. Under Clinton administration.
Hilary ran the scene the first time. Bill would be fully retired this time around and won't have anyone asking about the girls he is with.
The new dot com boom wont happen but when it does it will be hugeeeeeeeeee, and it will be lead by the nano-technology sector and it will revolutionize humanity in every which way, the positives are huge, but there are also potential out of control negatives too.
Or maybe they will both have interns this time looooooooooool, imagine all the stuff that could be going on in the white house.
