Whats proper paypal etiquette when paying for services?

So, I've purchased a couple different services here on the DP forums, all of which I've paid for with paypal. The first seller requested that I send slightly more than the agreed on cost, to cover the paypal fees. My next couple sellers didn't say anything about me covering the fees & I sent exactly what we agreed on.

Just kinda curious what buyers & seller's opinions are on this. If I agree to purchase a service at $100 should I cover the paypal fees, or is that included in his price?

    Thoughts......?

    Hi there
ive used paypal a lot and ive never been asked to pay extra, its down to the seller to pay the fees, he is the one recieving the money not you, you should only pay the price advertised. steve

I've never covered the fees when buying nor have I asked a buyer to cover the fees when they purchased something. Buying, I would refuse unless they explicitly stated so before hand. Selling, its part of the price of doing business. It shouldn't even be part of the conversation. I consider it like a store if I use a credit card and the merchant said "pay the credit card fees for me", I'd probably laugh.

It's not like its an unexpected cost. I'd hope they have it together enough to figure it into their pricing. Sounds like you went through some sellers who figure it won't hurt to ask. And if a buyer refused, they could just say they'd cover "this time".

I had the same the other day. Where I was asked to send the payment as a gift so had to pay a fee myself. Kinda wanted the site though so just agreed to it.

It's far from the norm though and I would generally have to agree with what shallowink said.

Well you can set the servics charges by the paypal and you have to check out the price charges for selling or buying.
