was researching a keyword and working on estimation for number of searches for that keyword and after digging in adwords, trends and overture i noticed that a keyword with less than 2000 searches according to overture does not appear in Google Trends. is it possible to build some sort of relation between overture results and google trends to estimate number of google searches? what might be the minimum number of searches for a keyword to appear in google trends?
I used to receive 500 hits from Google per day for a small keyword and I was #1 -- And that keyword shows pretty good in trends. I'd say if a keyword is searched 200-300 times a day, it must appear in trends. ps. just a side note, overture is not that reliable. I think sometime the number it reports is the result of bot hits of webmasters checking their ranks like crazy. Always dig the keyword in all possible ways and then start running after it.
Not meaningfully, no. Overture lumps all stemmed variations together ([mortgage refinance] and [mortgage refinancing], and all other variations, all show the same number of searches in Overture), and pulls the data from a different pool. -Michael
