What's it worth: BuyAnAmp.com

I just registered a great name for a website to sell guitar amps: BuyAnAmp.com
Would make a GREAT eBay store.

How much do you think the name itself is worth?

Hey that was a great find. I dont think it is worth much more than reg fee for now, but once you develop some contnt on it and it is indexed by Google it could be worth more.

It is definitely a cool name. Maybe you could use it for a blog and post information about amps and general guitar stuff. You could write long reviews for the major brands and models of amplifiers and throw in some affiliate links and Google ads

    thanks!
I'm thinking of making an ebay store with the PHPbay script and then having sections with articles (maybe ezine) as well as original content. I just have to find the time :(

Is that your blog in your recent blog link? I checked it out, looks cool. If it is yours I would be willing to write a review for you in my PR3 blog free. PM me if you want to take a look at the blog.

I'm confused why people use "x"? Makes it much harder to get an idea of the value. is that standard practice?

Yes, it is a standard practice. Each 'x' represents a dollar value. For example 'xx" would mean $10 to $99 and 'xxx' would mean $100 to $999

Yes it is quite a large range. Often people will add low or mid such as low XXX to mid XXX or mid to high XXX

    gotcha.

so what's the best place to sell a domain name? i just sold a blog (TheGuitarResource.com) on sedo for $750. but they took like a 10 percent comission! Is there a better way? And do you normally start at a lower price and then go to auction?

    thanks!

Im not sure what to tell you on that. I have sold domains here at DP and on eBay. I sold one site on ebay for $710. I think all the fees together were like 35 or 40 bucks.

I sold one site here on DP for $100. Later I realized that I could have gotten two or three imes that amount on ebay.

    I have never tried Sedo

Always give ebay/sitepoint/sedo a try first and keep dp as a last resort:). If you see the domain thread you would know why.

Btw buyanamp could also be used as an audiophile forum. If you have decided to sell it do not sell it for under $100.

    And when someone says:

    Low $xx - Usually $10 to $40
    Mid $xx - $40 to $70
    High $xx - $70 to $99

Unless you develop some good content, get it indexed by the SEs and generate some traffic or revenue I doubt that you could get much more than reg fee.
