Hi all, I've been running an adwords campaign for my site www.eyeonmogs.com, its a price comparison tool for those MOG (games like World of Warcraft) gamers who participate in Real Money Trade. The campaign's CTR is around 1-2% over the last 4 months with individual keywords ranging anywhere from <1% to 4%. The actual ads themselves have a pretty low CTR, probably under 1% on average... What I'm wondering is how good is this? I've tried optimising ad copy, but it seems to make little difference. The sites average sale and conversion ratio mean that I can't pay more than £1 per click, and preferably I would pay under that. Which is what I have been doing. However given the apparent quality of my ads and the bids others competing for the same keywords (such as 'wow gold' and 'world of warcraft gold') I am left somewhere around position 20+ What are your thoughts? Would a higher max CPC help? Or different keywords, better landing pages (how?). I'm a bit at a loss. I've got about £100 I could throw at this and stand to loose, but anything above that I@d have to be sure of a reasonable ROI. Thanks for any advice you can give! Mike
Generally speaking I would say your campaign is performing (looking strictly at CTR) poorly. Have you experimented with all the available matching options and dynamic keyword insertion?
I have experimented with these a little, however mostly within the Traffic Estimator tool. I'm not sure how reliable that is as an indication? I did look at dynamic keyword insertion, but I'm not sure how applicable it really is to these ads. Nice feature though
The traffic tool is a joke. I could pull estimates out of my as* that are more accurate. It should come with a disclaimer - "this tool is for entertainment purposes only and in no way shape or form reflects what will actually happen with your account". Are those the same ads you think aren't performing all that well? If you want to improve CTR DKI will help if implemented correctly.
Do you track your keywords? Do you know which ones convert to sales? If not, invest your cash in a tracking software or service and start tracking your sales asap.
Hi, I started bidding on 5-10 keywords but have removed most of these due to very poor performance. I'm now focusing on the following: world of warcraft gold wow gold With a campaign setup for Europe and one for the US. Each has a Max CPC of £1 and a daily budget of £10. I'm tracking conversions, which at the moment mean I'm making a substantial loss on both campaigns Heres a breakdown of yesterdays stats for my US campaign (the EU one seems to not be running for some reason). Overall campaign CTR: 3.0% Keyword wow gold CTR: 3.8% Keyword world of warcraft gold CTR: 1.9% Overall conversion rate: 18% Cost per conversion is about 1.5 times higher than the breakeven. Had a total of 11 clicks, 8 from wow gold and 3 from world of warcraft gold Average position for both keywords is 24-18, dont know which page that is? 3? Most successful ad from the ones I have had 8 clicks and a CTR of 2.6, some of the other ads only had one click but a CTR of 4% Ad copy for some of the 4 that are running: Save 40% on your WoW Gold 100-3000 WoW Gold, 13 stores, quick easy search. Check before you buy! www.eyeonmogs.com/warcraft-gold Most successful Highest CTR 50-5000 Warcraft Gold 500g just $40.99 EU & $30.23 US! Lowest price gold from top stores. www.eyeonmogs.com/warcraft-gold Thats where I am. I need the conversions to go up, or the CPC to go down, or both! Lol. Dont know why the EU campaign isnt running, is it maybe because I am running both campaingns in Google UK? Only one campaign per location? Thanks for the input guys!
First of all Increase your daily Budget. Do not Mistrust Google Adwords. Second, are you using Negative Keywords. Let me tell you some kind of searchers will never buys a product online. Does not matter how many times they visit a site. On average it takes 7 interatcion to make a sale. So get ready for that delay. And Dear Friend, please keep a sharp eye on ROI, not CTR. Try to use Demography selection too, a new tool from Google. You have target your ads to a very specific people. And take my words Keywords alone is not enough. You have to use 1. Negative words. 2. No content Network as your CPC is high 3. You can set Different CPC for content, but if your product is high priced do not use this network. 4. higher Daily Budget than you feel comfortable. If you have $10 which you can throw in, so make the daily budget $80-100. 5. Target Very specific region. Do research where client make sales online and go after those market. Certainly all these 5 points are not small number, you have to make changes and test and track like mad to make this work. But for starter it will show you good return on ROI. And you can run as many campaign in your Account in any region. But Smart Marketer say for proper functioning you should run 25 campaign, 100 ad group in a campaign and 50,000 keywords in an account. Ask Google, if something is not running, they reply in reasonablely good time. Now its time to my pay my Fee... Do not be frightened. It will cost you only One Big smile on your face.....Smile Arvind Kumar
