I was checking my logs and noticed several visitors coming from Yahoo thanks to my main keyword. I know it isn't well ranked at Yahoo, so I did a quick check, and almost fainted when I saw it was at spot 17. Well, I figured it was just a hiccup, since that keyword has been on spot 218 for a long time, and yes, after a couple of hours it dropped back to the 20th page. What is going on here? I am crossing my fingers hoping that this is a preview of a nice future rank I might be getting there. Has this happened to anyone else?
Hi, Yes, I noticed the same! I have been stuck in number 20-30 for my main keyword but yesterday for a few hours managed to get up to 7! I was very happy about this obviously until I noticed that this morning I was back to where I started...strange!
Wow, they've indexed at least another 10 of my pages!!! In the same time period, Google has indexed another 6000
Yeah, I also meet problems with Yahoo. I might be paranoid but it's like they try discourage people who don't pay for inclusion.
You're definitely not alone... I see one of our sites bouncing back and forth between 3rd and 40th positions, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with how the site is updated...or even the content for that matter. We have other sites that mysteriously moved into top positions and (I'm not complaining here) have remained in those top spots. I too would love to know what's going on.
I have seen some first page listings on yahoo moving up a little for our site. We also use overture for some phrases as well. But it is still much nicer to get the higher ranking for free :~)
I don't think your paranoid, I couldn't agree more ... yahoo is trying to encourage people to pay for inclusion. I read somewhere that this is the most profitable portion of their business. Joe
Mine is more steadily at #12 but would flip up and down from 12 to 43 even after a couple months after paying...I'm #2 on google, so I can't complain, but Yahoo is weird. I regret paying. I discontinued my Sitematch too and it hasn't affected anything. I do wonder what will happen when I don't renew my directory subscription.
Now the serps in yahoo are back to what I saw before - so #7 again. I hope you are right that things might be moving and that was a preview. Kind of like google and the datacenter thing.
About 2 weeks ago I moved from #47 to #1 for my most competitive keyphrase (pool 1.3 million). I've stayed there for 2 full weeks. Today, I'm back to #45. These wild swings make no sense to me at all. I've made no risky changes and have no bad link exchanges. It's very strange indeed.
Yes, it seems odd that sites should be jumping from top spots way down to in the 40's - it's not a slide or even a bump...it's a full-on free fall in many occaisions. But then, just as mysteriously, you end up flying back to the top. I still can't find any information on why this might be happening.
Hey guys how exactly i can get in the first page in yahoo for free.. How many sites you must have? I know peopel that they have they're sites there...special in drugs area.. Whta you say..
I'd say you need to sit down and read at least 100 posts before you jump in and start asking this type of questions. And this has nothing to do with what we were discussing, thank you for trolling in.
I don't waste my time checking results in Yahoo - I know no matter where I rank with them they are not giving me enough traffic to even raise a finger to type in the domain name. I know you should not keep all of your eggs in one basket - but Yahoo and MSN are a million years away from achieving what Google has in it's relatively short life.
I agree, and I laugh at all those people posting about the new MSN engine and how it will make Google vanish into oblivion. Wake up, guys, Google is the king, and I sure love it!
