I use wordpress. and i been getting a cpuple pingback notifications. I notice that this one related site is posting my articles with a source link to my blog added at the bottom. It just happened again but another related site did it. I know they're related because they both link back to one site in their menu and both domains owned by the same person. Are they automatically grabbing my articles some how? Cause I made a new post on my blog about 30 min ago and that article is already on one of their sites. The two blogs that are using my articles are: http://gear-monsters.com/ http://hardon4guitars.com/ Both of those above sites link back to this one: http://hardon4guitars.com/ My blog is http://www.stevierayvaughan.org What's happening? I like backlinks. but I don't like the whole duplicant content thing.
I had that happen on a fairly new blog of mine, the person must of done it for between 10 - 15 posts then just stopped, i didn't like it either, it looked all automated, i worried that every new post would end up being picked up by the person but it just stopped.
It has to be some automatic thing. I don't know how they do it. If it continues then I'll have to contact them.
Make sure to have a permalink somewhere in the body of the post, so that Google knows where the original post is and don't penalize you for duplicate content.
Do you have your posts with Rss feeds exposed? That way, anyone can use your feed and display in any website using a script of some sort and there are online tools that can throw some coded scripts, which can be used in wordpress etc using php exec plugins. I think copyright protection is good but internet has become a monster these days. It is hard to track the reputation of any blogger these days? what ya say? Swamy
Yeah it obviously has to be my feed. I googled a few of my articles today, and I see my articles on this persons blog sometimes rank higher than mine. Really messed up. As far as a permalink for the article. He just leaves a link to my homepage, not the direct article.
There are WordPress plugins that insert permalinks into RSS feeds and at the bottom of the original post. This way, if somebody automatically republishes your posts (either using your RSS feed or screen-scraping your site), the permalink will still point to your original post. Sorry, don't remeber the name of the plugin.
I emailed the guy. He said he would remove me from their syndication list. And now wants to do a banner exchange. So it's fine. I accept that the duplicant content thing is not a big deal and pretty much a myth, but it just still makes me nervous knowing that another site has my exact articles all over it.
You can setup your wordpress blog so it doesn't show all of your posts in the rss feed. This would stop this kind of thing.
