The page is seted to steal sales. This kind of people just don't realize that by doing this they actually lose money...If an affiliate promotes the page and he sees no sales then he will stop promoting. The merchants want 100% on the sales and that's why they are doing this.

    Dumb People...

The seller of this product is using a script like CB Centrifuge to stuff an affiliate cookie (most likely his own) when a visitor comes to his page from a non affiliate link (i.e., ?hop=0). If a purchase is made it comes through with one of those aff. id's rather than 'No Affiliate', and raises his gravity by 1.

He is not stealing sales from his affiliates. If you go to the page from

    http://YourAffId.luke13.hop.clickbank.net

and click buy, you will see your aff id at the bottom.

He's just taking advantage of the visits that come through without an affiliate link.

I believe CB Centrifuge was written by someone on this board. I've not used it myself but have read about it on here.

My first guess was to inflate the percentage of affiliates making sales, just as scotty mentioned.

That's a pretty useful script, good job to whoever wrote it.

Yeah, it's simply so they can increase their gravity on the marketplace to look like a lot of affiliates are promoting their product and making money so more affiliates will in turn promote the product.

A lot of Clickbank publishers use this tool. It's great for the publisher but sucks for the affiliate. Problem is that in many cases unless the prospect/customer buys immediately you will not get credit for the sale. If they decide to buy later the publisher will over-ride your affiliate id with theirs and they get credit for the sale.

Four Minute Money does this... I of course didn't know this when I started doing some heavy promotions for them. Pissed me off.
