    Hey,

    I have a website that is 18 months old, pr3, many non reprocial backlinks and some 'normal' link exchanges with similar themed sites (Though not many, but does include 2 pr5 sites).

    Anyway, my problem is I seem to have my main page ranked for several terms and then they disappear again, it's been like this for a while, like they will rank on page one for the terms for a week and then disappear for a few weeks and then come back for a week etc etc.

    Why do they keep coming back only to disappear again? Anyone encountered this?

    Yes many times, usually Google stabilises if you carry on with the same seo techniques. Google commonly puts sites up and down however with time and this could be months or years you should see more stability, not much though! Google is always keeping you on your feet.

    That's normal with google because they have different data center. Sometimes we access different data center with different results.

    Yes I have the same issue but it's not google dance. Sometimes it's like my site is penalized and sometimes not, somewhere in between. Looks like my problem is having so many 'not found' pages.

    I'd say, go to webmaster tools and try to find out what's wrong with your site.

    Is this frequent ups and downs in google ranking normal or is it unique since the last update beginning of this year?

    I am fairly puzzled with this merry go round thing....:(

    It is happening to me for a couple of sites too.
    First I thought I got penalized, but they keep returning on top, then down again.

    Hello...

    Seems some are having issues while others arent depending on niche maybe?

    We have been doing some back-link building and moving forward in the serps so
    not sure what to think about everyones sites going crazy.

    I have one site in particular that fluctuates between #3 and no ranking at all about once a month. Build up some good content, get some quality in links and it should stabilise.
