I have noticed my PR (normally 5) jumps to a PR6 some days but all other pages on the site would be a PR0 -when normally they are 3s & 2s.. then the next day its back to 5, 3s & 2s.. Any guesses what's going on.. (I was thinking about selling some links to my site, but this would make it tricky! -a page that's 3 one day is 0 the next). A friend thinks it might be the end of Google's Page Ranking anyway.. any thoughts? T.
My guess is it has to do with the datacenter that your PR is being pulled from. Since there are a lot there is a slight fluctuation between PR levels.
Well this keeps on happening ... no problem with that... this is possibly due to various data centers have various information about your site and some of them may be having some server problem ... wait for few days and everything will be back on track... Manish
You should check that there are no canonicalization issues with your site. If a page is available at 2 or 3 slightly different url's then you will see different PR.
It has been fluctuating like this for over 2 months now. Only google knows what they are doing and when are they going to stop it. Hopefully everyting will settle down soon.
Matt Cutts said in his blog recently in regards to PR: "Q: “Now that Bigdaddy is out, will there be a new export of PageRank anytime soon?†and “Will the deployment of BigDaddy stabilise the rolling PR issues we are experiencing at present?†A: I’ll ask around about that. If there aren’t any logistical obstacles, I’ll ask if we could make a new set of PageRanks visible within the next couple weeks. I’d expect that as Bigdaddy stabilizes everywhere, the variation in toolbar PR for individual urls is more like to settle down too."
