    Nope ... FRESH content is definitely the key, the news bubble or news effect ... you don't need back links if you stay current and write about new (news) events, just be specific in title and tags.

    The news effect IMO is huge, updating regularly is a must, using long tail search terms is under rated.

    The biggest change is people / the normal every day people who search on Google (etc), the average surfer is getting smarter, no longer do people search for a general term such as Britney Spears - they are more specific, now they search for Britney Spears I Seek Amy Lyrics ... they use more specific and relevant search terms.
