I'm starting a script site and was wondering how i should host them. I want my site to be seo but am not sure which method i should use. For each script should i have it as a subdomain (www.ScriptName.SiteName.com) or just in a folder(www.SiteName.com/ScriptName)? Which would be better for google? Thanks in advance.

SEO-wise I'm not sure which would be better. I think most people are used to seeing this format www.SiteName.com/ScriptName, so I'd probably lean toward it. Unless, your subdomain is like deli.ci.us.

Thats the thing though, most of the professional sites that are huge have it as a subdomain.

In my opinion folders are better and can be better managed than subdomains. Anyways best wishes for your new venture. :)

I guess this one is better www.SiteName.com/ScriptName

Because as far as my understanding says... Search engines ignore "/" and this format is counted for your SEO ranking for example if you are targeting a key word say " Birthday party" and your url says www.party.com/birthday there are chances your site shows up on higher ranking... so being an SEO we really need to be smart with our URL formatting...

    good luck

A folder (subdirectory) would be better.

Simply use folder rather than subdomian becuase using folder is considered as same site in the eyes of google and the page rank would not effect but keeping subdomain is considered as different site in the eyes of google and your page rank juice will not be passed to subdomain.

Also google is giving page rank on the basis of the quality of page but remember if a domian receives pag rank 7 then automatically the other url will receive some ( not full benefit) benefit of that page rank. This is generally happening.

I don't know exactly what your scripts are about, but I would go with folders. Subdomains are treated as different sites so you will have to multiply your link building efforts by the number of subdomains you have. There is an exception, if you plan on building a huge site that would need subdomains of its own.
