I would like opinions on both sides (website owners & website visiters)

What looks/pays better ads like adsense or no ads and a donate buttom

Like do site owners recieve more from not having ads and just a donate button and visa versa

    also

do visiters prefer ads or just a donate button (this one is probally obvious)

Actually, I (as a visitor) prever google ads to a donate button.. it has nice content, and I dont feel as if im misusing any1.
You will also make much more with ads. I believe about 1 in 40 000 users actually donate.

i actually prefer google ads aswell simple because you can blend them into the page theme more compared to other ads.

I just wanted to know the general opinion

It depends on your visitors. A loyal forum that believes in what you do will donate more than SE traffic.

    Just ask Shawn... ;)

He got 2 new servers, and if he needs another 2 I'm sure he would reach the amount in a few weeks.

Good point fryman, but the situation is a bit different. He has a very loyal base here, plus quality tools that a lot of people use.

For just-4-teens forum, I would think the ads would be much better. It's not even legal for your target audience to own credit cards :)

I prefer free adds to websites not donations. Donations seem to disqualify your website worth! (Not yours in particular) but in general. If you want ads on the site go for the ones that will pay (no matter how much) if you get donations add a % of the money donated to charity (this will be tax deductible and look better a s a business stand point)
    My opinion.
