I would like to know what would be better for people to remember. For example, if I were running a local restaurant called "Yummy's Restaurant" (not the best example, I know), would it look better to have yummysrestaurant.com or yummys.net?
Personally, I usually have a full domain name, and then have an abriviated for seasoned users of the site, they like both options, especially if someone cant spell correctly like me, lol... good luck Pit
IMO, the problem with a .net is the potential for driving traffic to the .com by accident. If the long name is the name people use for your business I would go that direction.
The less letters generally the better, although getting yummys.com would be a struggle (probably a porn site already). If its a choice between yummysrestaurant.com and yummys.net, i would go for the longer domain. I also agree with the other poster. I wouldnt use another high lvl extension other than .com unless your going country specific, like .us, or .com.au, or .co.uk. Its really only .com and the highest level country extensions that hold value, and only then if your specifically targetting that country. The only other extension worth its salt is .org for organisations, NPO's and charities.
Sometimes its better to get alonger .com but if its gets hard to spell and stuff look for a short .net. Or go for a more general shorter .com.
