I have my own opinion on this, but wanted to hear what everyone thought. What's a better backlink? Directory Submissions or Blog Commenting?
Blog commenting is good as far as not automated. It helps in bringing some quality traffic - but not SERP. I have voted for directory submission - simply for its help in SERPs. But I would rather get my site listed on 5 quality directories than 500 so called Free/Fast approval .info or PR 3/4/5 dropped domain directories. Its the quality and not the number of links one should always look for whether directory submission or blog commenting (99% or more of those comment links are no-follow, non related).
They are different in their own ways. Directory submissions give you one way backlinks, whereas commenting on blogs give you nofollow links, but a better exposure. I'd say, commenting on dofollow blogs are best.
Neither are great, or even good, for link juice. The outgoing links are so watered down, and the relevance is typically not very good. Blogs are better, especially for relevance to your topics. The beauty of blogs is that you could get some good traffic, IF you leave thoughtful comments and the blog has good traffic of its own. Focus on blog commenting and leave good comments.
Blog commenting is far better than directory submissions. There is nothing in directory submissions again.
I'll choose dir. submission since google hates useless blog comments. It considers it as a kind of spam.
I believe that blog commenting is great as if you do a good job with the comment and not make it completely spam, then it has a higher visibility rate.
