I have not used BANs and I did consider it during my research but I have opted for PHPBay Pro since most of my sites are on wordpress. PHPBay Pro can easily be integrated with wordpress with just few lines of codes and with wp templates abound around the net your ebay niche store will never have the generic look though BANS can be modified to look different.
If you're unable to write your own (or just can't be bothered), they're both very good scripts. It depends on what kind of site you want to create. If you're already familiar with WP, then go with phpBay Pro. Otherwise, BANS is a great way to get an eBay store up and running. Have you considered using the eBay RSS feed to create your own custom store? It's not as complicated as it should be, it's free, and you'll be leaving your own big ugly footprint
I'm using them both, mainly because of how fast and easy they are to setup. PHPBay is perfect for my blogs where I want to add some quick affiliate links and then I can easily channel traffic to my BANs stores.
I'd like to mention that phpBay did recently update the plugin, so that now you can display multiple instances of eBay products on one page.
Yes, I have used Phpbay lite too. Then I have upgraded to PhpBay Pro for better control of my ebay item listings.
phpBayPro is cheaper, but requires some technical knowledge. I wrote about the comparison here: http://buildanichestore.yellowebmaster.com/phpbaypro-vs-build-a-niche-store/
Technical knowledge? Copying and pasting category numbers and entering keywords doesn't seem very technical to me.
