Ive used PHPFox and its reliable, but to an extent. Almost killed my server when I reached around 700 members.. To much CPU usage. Either get it and spend some money to optimize it or get another script all together.

phpfox is the best on the market at the current moment. However you would have to have some knowledge of php to implement and sort out some of the existing features :)

AbleSpace is a virtually identical MySpace clone but with some nice features added in, like live video chat.

I started off using PHPFox - its okay. But its a long way from being a MySpace competitor, not least because of the bad bad performance.

I took a quick look at pringo. Didn't impress me.

Ive been looking at kootali. Theyve just reduced the price to $217 but the copyright banding is another $195 which seems to steep. I emailed them about it and they wont budge on that so I wont go for it. Was prefect for me as its very simple to use.

I think I am going to try Dolphin as advised tomorrow.

Boy, I'm always running into these "What's the best dating/social networking script?" posts? It seems everybody is either looking to promote one particular script, or bash one particular script. My suggestion would be to do your own research, as you will likely not get very real and genuine answers in a forum such as this one. Too many people just pushing their own agendas. Now I'll tell you my favourite 4 ;-)
    a. abk-soft - dating/social networking
    b. boonex -social networking
    c. social engine - social networking
    d. emeeting -dating

I use abk-soft for three of my sites, and boonex for another two. I used to have a social engine site, but I shut it down because there were no members. This is no reflection on the script, just not enough time to do all the SEO. I would advice to check out the demos to help make your decision. Also remember to try to find a niche to fill. Don't just create a general dating or social networking site. This niche has already been filled, and it could takes years of full-time SEO to complete with these big boys (or big girls).
