Hi Nowadays Linux-based operating system is really useful stuffs to do many things. Personally i like to work with Ubuntu 8.04. According to your choice what's the Linux-based operating system?
Specs are in the screenshot, sorry about the large size. When I need to test my web design crap in Windows, I do it seamless in the free copy of Windows Server 2008 that Microsoft gave me. Running Ubuntu Hardy 64, since I'm going to upgrade to 8GB of RAM soon. Compiz Fusion runs great at 1680x1050 on my $35 ATI Radeon 3450 with 256MB DDR2 RAM. Finally ATI works good in Linux.
Cent OS for servers, uBuntu I would say is what I liked for desktops, there are soo many flavors I haven't tried yet, so that will be a hard one to decide upon...
Well, you've identified one of the weak points of Linux, it's not that good of a gaming platform. Still, there are a lot of games you can run under WINE such as the Orange Box and World of Warcraft, but if you do a lot of gaming you're better off dual booting with Linux for everything but games, and Windows when you need to game. To solve this I just got an X-Box 360 and now I don't game on my computer at all. Oh, and in regards to a Ubuntu recommendation, just go for Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.
