Ok so im fairly new to adsense and have had them on a couple of sites for the last 2 months. I have fairly low traffic and had a CTR of around 0.4%. I did a little research on add placement and with a bit of a switch around got the CTR on one of my sites up to 6%. The thing is i have no frame of reference, ie whats a good CTR whats poor etc. any advice would be appreciated.
it depends on what kind of a site you have - blogs and arcades will go from 1% to maybe even 10% on good days if you have a forum, its most likely you'll get below 0.50% lol - i speak from experience
average CTR depends on niche and type of site (like website, blog, forums, etc). among the sites, forums have the lowest CTR. and when it comes to niche, there are some niche having low CTR (like 1% or so) and some having decent CTR. proxy sites for example have around 1% CTR. if you have a good content site with lots of unique resource and did a good job with ad placement and blending in, then you can get 10% or more CTR. but for average sites, 3-4% CTR is standard
