Many members on this forum seem to think that Wordpress is the best thing since sliced bread, but it never struck as more than a blogspot look-alike.... Can any of you guys explain to me what makes it different than any other free blogging platform? Thanks!
Word Press is customizable. There is almost no limit to what can be done with the templates/themes. With WP you can actually own the domain - not so with blogspot
Got to agree with the above, the support, plugins, themes etc make it a great piece of code to use. Its easy to alter to your own needs and looks better than most blog software about. I only got introduced to it via Installatron with my hosting - thats another great point I guess, one click and its installed ready to go. Ry
It has 2k+ plugins, its regularly updated, its easy to work with, easy to learn how to create themes for it, can be used as a CMS, can be setup quickly, wont cost much to get going, easy to seo, the se's seem to love blogs, well i know google does. A massive community, lots of assistance.
Look at the Panthers Blog link in my signature. Do you think you can do that with Blogger? No. That is why people love Wordpress.
Wordpress sucks ass, because the people behind it are all firefox fanboys, however with so many programmers worldwide involved in development, there is no other platform that offers adequate development power and support. They're still nothing but a bunch of useless firefox fanboys, though. Almost as obnoxious as mac fanboys...
Wordpress can range from a simple one person blog, to a hundred author CMS, to even millions of users having their own blog hosted from one installation (WPMU), or even a gallery. Because wordpress is free, has good support, is highly customizable, and has tons of plug-ins, many choose it as the defauly blog software/ CMS for their site. Many forget though that there are other choices out there. http://movabletype.org http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Blog/index.html and more, just do a google search for blog software, and you will find many. I personally love wordpress, and use it on CSSCharm.com
Blogger sucks. the only thing good about it is that it is free and you can monetize it with Google products. There are no limitations to wordpress. Just look around at all the different types of blogs and designs on this forum from Wordpress users.
it's a system that allows you to easily manage your content (videos, articles, pictures, etc.), most web hosting companies offer one click installation to your website, from there you'll be given a special link to go to the admin section of your CMS and manage your sites' content
He didn't explain very well, it's a system that dynamically manages content without you having to hard code the content into html pages.
