Whats a PR4 worth?

Ive got a few sites with a PR4 (hopefully PR5 next update) what are they worth in terms of google search results?

    And how much better is a PR4 > PR5 and PR5 > PR6?

What do you mean by "In terms of Google search results"?

The search results aren't based on PR

    PR4 has not much worth.
    In rough calculations
PR5 is 8 times harder than PR4 to achieve.
and PR6 is 8 times harder than PR5 and so on....

I'm gonna have to disagree with this. I have a site that got PR 4 and absolutelty no traffic from Google. I had a new site with a similar theme, but it got PR 5 and I get a lot of traffic from Google. There has to be some correlation here.

PR is taken into consideration. Keep in mind that what you see isn't always true. Google updates their pr all the time but we only see an update every 3-4 months. You may have a pr0 but google sees it as a pr5 so that site would rank higher.

And I have a PR 7 that gets absolutely no traffic at all from Google.

For me PR is a product of good rankings though not the cause of them. Incoming links from good site using well thought out anchor text give good rankings. These links, as they are from good sites also pass PR, therefore,

links + anchor text = rankings + PR

    and not

    PR = rankings

I could not have said it better myself. It seems alot of new people may need to go back to basics.

A PR of anything in itself is worth nothing, unless you are selling links.

PR is one of only about 200 factors that determine rankings. What the rest are, and their weighting, nobody outside Google knows for sure. Age of site, age of links, anchor text, trustworthiness of your site, relevance of outgoing links and on and on.

Furthermore, the PR displayed on your toolbar may or may not reflect the actual PR, and is only a rough approximation.

You're right, there are well over 100 possible different factors, though this can be over complicating things. I usually take it as read that people have well optimised their site so that just leaves off page factors. The age of the domian can't be changed, so if that's a problem then you'll just have to wait it out until any sandbox penalty has expired.
I wrote a bit about pagerank here

Basically just explaining why I didn't think it was important.

high Pr links defintely influence search engine rankings in most cases. sites with higher PR *usually* show on the first few pages of google.

PR by itself has very little value. It is just one factor in determing value.

PR has a lot of value but it alone won't make you rank for anything competitive. With a high PR you will probably rank well for non-competitive terms.

I'd have to agree with MattUK. There is no solid connection that PR=SERP ranking. I have a PR4 real estate site that is #1 for its target market, but did not do JACK until we got the anchor text, links and needed on page optimization to get it to the top. It had been a pr4 for many months before we did those things.

    Cheers
    Eric

This is true. PR is a way of telling Google how often a page should be crawled by their bots. It has very little effect on rankings. PR 5 is worth more frequent crawling than PR 4 and in the case of web directories you can charge more money for a link on a PR 5 page as compared to a PR 4 page.

PR has nothing to do with SERP's i.e. Search Engine Ranking. So having a PR4 or PR6 or PR2 does not in anyway determine your position on the search engine ranking page. A PR4 is better than PR3 if you wish to sell links though:)
