What's a good FTP client that's free?

I was using SmartFTP until the bastards decided to charge $35.00 per license. What's a free alternative to SmartFTP that's comparable in ease of use and functionality?

SmartFTP is always free, when it says your trail version has expired just press 'OK' or 'Continue' - cant remember what it says.

That's changed as of recent...now you must make a purchase to continue using SmartFTP after 10 days.

I've been using FileZilla for a long while now, it's by far the best free FTP client I've used (and I've used a fair few). I definately recommend it :)

    Another vote for FileZilla here.

I also use the excellent FileZilla Portable version for Portable Apps on my USB stick. Woohoo!

You might want to find an older version of Smart FTP somewhere on the web. If its just the new versions that are trial based. I use Smart FTP whenever I am on my PC. It is still free for me. It use to only cost if you used it for commercial use. For just personal use it was free.

My alternative to Smart FTP was FileZilla. Its easy to use, just not as nice as Smart Ftp interface wise. Smart Ftp just looks nicer. They both do the same job. :)

I like FTP Surfer, brilliantly simple! Just enough to get the job done without any bother! Been using it for years without a single problem. My hosting company actually recommended it to me.
