what's a better URL for seo?

I am using '_' like in DMOZ

 

I read a couple comments on Matt Cutt's blog that were skeptical about what he was saying.. anyway, I'll go with dash for now.

What did they say? Matt's explanation makes sense to me. Before search engines even existed, _ was used to help coders be able to read and identify things easier. I think his example of searching for FTP_BINARY proves the point. Searching for FTP_BINARY only yields results that have an underscore. You don't see FTP BINARY, and vice versa.

Searching a bunch of random keywords, I never see any top 10s using underscores in the keyword.

What does that have to do with SEO?

People don't remember ANYTHING after the .com

 

I think second is better.

 

Both keywords are better for seo.

 

It doesn't matter what type of URL are you going to use as long as you optimized your site well.

 

You use second URL.

 

I always choose the second solution as deep links seem to be harder to index.
Just my little 1 cent.

I choose #2 because it looks better

 

If you're starting from new, go with the hyphen.
If not, just staick with the other format and concentrate on more content and links.

The hyphen - seperates the keywords for the search engines, and pages index much quicker for me when I do it. But the niches were small so...
