Hi, i am creating a site for a client and they have asked me to change the text (html text) in the menu to Univers Condensed. Can anyone help me here? thanks in advance
you'd need to change it into a group of images and replace the text with images, as univers condensed is not a standard system font, so very few people will have it
<span style="font-family:Univers Condensed">Text Here</span> Code (markup): Never heard of that font though, so it won't work on a fair few machines....
Maybe nobody has Univers, but I'll bet if you used Helvetica, so long as there're no numbers in the menu, nobody will know the difference (they look almost identical). Otherwise, you would indeed need to use images (as image replacement technique of course so there's always text). Then for the text which shows when people don't have images on, use #menu (whatever it's called) { font-family: "Univers Condensed", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; } Since it's condensed, you could try bolding the letters and setting letter-spacing: .5em or something to make everything look closer together. Only problem might be the one or two people with Univers Condensed will see extra-condensed letters, so if they are any % of your viewing population I would go with simply "Univers" in your font listing, OR try to find condensed versions of Helvetica and Arial.
Thanks for all the replies... yeah i think it is better to use html text over images for a basic standard menu... would you agree
