So what you think if we hire someone for writing description at our directory? do you think it worth? or just waste money?
It would improve the directory if it had objective, original descriptions. I would likely take years before you broke even. I don't think I would take the risk myself.
I hired my friend Zenil (matrixsoftwarez) to work on my FruityDirectory. He added over a thousand links with descriptions and titles. Its the only way forward. Too much work for one man to do
You could maybe sell it as a full review of the sites. Instead of 200-500 characters, each description could read more like a blog post. The main catch is that you will have to trust the person completely and you would have to be able to hire them cheaply enough. You will also have to ensure that your's will be the only directory displaying their work otherwise it will truly be a waste of money. Depending upon your niche and the size of your directory, it might be hard to recoup the investment.
That's indeed a good method. I tried writing unique descriptions for websites on my directory too. Mikey goes one step further and also collects links for his directory
If it is a paid submmision and the text the submiter have write is exctly the same then i think you have to change it a bit in order to be unique for benefit both directory and submited site.So i will say yes hire a writer if you can find a suitable person...
thanks @mikey and @scoobby... i also hire someone for that, because i hate writing works (not good in english) but i love to look website... now i loose someone doing that , i using this method at my premium directory. I know people will submit same description, and it will declare as duplicate content...why i doing this? i think it's a good way to save my directory with google penalty, i hope i rights about that . So, to all friend who reply this thread.. i want to say thank you, because try to help me build a good directory.. How about hire someone to re-edited description, do you think it a good deal to hire with per-link... like $0.50 per link with 250 description?
Although i know someone who has done it, the results were disappointing for this person and i personally wouldn't pay someone to do it.
Its really a good idea, if you are aiming for long term which will certainly help you to pay your hard work.
I wrote & rewrote common descriptions for the categories in my general directory. Was a bit of a challenge! Took months on and off — but I did see a change in the nature of my traffic. Over the course of a few months, the majority of my traffic started to organically come in via google from countries like the US< UK, Australia, et al. That was a big change — previous to that, the majority of my traffic came from India. So I saw a change in quantity and quality of traffic!
How do you know that rewriting descriptions lead to a change in where your traffic was coming from? I dont immediately see how that would work, were you writing text that would appeal to visitors from those countries and did you do anything else at this time?
He probably means the unique content was pulling in genuine visitors from the search egines, as apposed to Indian SEOs submitting and leaving.
i agree with @dsendecki the true is we need traffic come to our directory and make good benefit to people who submit they site at our directory, not only looking profit but doing a honest online business.
Ya, sorry — I realize now that didn't make sense — I saw an increase in vistitors other than submitters — a greater variety of traffic.
Mike, did you need to edit the descriptions or could you trust him to write unique content? Also how much did you pay him and is he still available - send me a pm please. I don't mind re-writing descriptions for spelling and grammar but would like to find somebody to find links for my blog directory and submit them as a user for me to edit and approve.
