This thread is regarding on what domain extensions you register. Personally i only register .com's and .tv (only when relevant)

My thought process, People assume a domain is .com when visiting websites, another you could loose visits to competitors by not having a .com. Also its looks more professional.

I think that most people are familiar with .com when it comes to websites. If you have simular site names and one is .com and the other is .net or something, most people would type in .com

    .com all the way
but others work fine, like I have a .me that I'll develop one of these days
    it's
    www.ipbhelp.me
I thought it sounded nice like
ipb help me, I also did a little research on the keyword phrases and found this to be the best one of my options.

I did choose a .net for one of my new project,
since the .com is not available,
and the .com site was dead, I maybe have the chance to register the .com later.

Of course, .com is most popular and first choice of every new domain taker. But these days some other extensions are also popular like .tv (for tv program website), .cc (for credit card company or payment gateway websites), .ws (for website desgin company), .in (for indian website), .us (for united state websites) etc.

At us national domains com.ru, com.ua and net are often used. All depends on an audience on which you count the site.
