What you do if your product does not sell?

If you cannot sell your product what you do? Give it free? Does it even make sense? What would you gain with it?
I think giving it free and putting in recycle bin will make the same effect.

If your product does not sell it means it has inexistent traffic and like that makes no sense giving it free either dont you agree? :)

If it's an info pruduct, you can either offer it as a bonus in your next product, or you can break it down and use articles, piece it together to create a new product, or just keep it around to use as a swipe file.

Giving some away from free to promote your product further could help considerably. It's a good way to get sales started up.

Either give it away for free and let people try it out. Or fix it. If it is not selling, either people arnt interested in what your selling or something is wrong with it.

What kind of software is it, maybe we can help

Try and analyse what went wrong.

It could be something to do with the way the product is promoted.

    - make sure if the product is catering for the right demographic
    - repackage the product
    - bundle with another product
    - as a tie-in

Guess giving it free is the only option...it is a category manager orientated for multimedia and multi-user portal purposes.

Im selling it for €20, at the beginning it had some sells (and people were happy with it even if there was only 1 layout and 1 language available) but by the time the links dropped in the script listings the traffic went to low levels nearly dead.

€20 seemed to be a fair price due to all work i had with it, but guess nobody likes to pay for web scripts (i dont :p).

The problem is i keep reinventing the wheel because everything was done before so its hopeless ^^

I have other script that is free and that one depite being 1 million times more simple seems to have gained its regular traffic.

I will make the price for the product double as expensive as the most expensive product that is on the market. Then i will make sure it has the best marketing it can. Throw on it lots and lots traffic. Thats the way to go.:D

Try to improve it. Add new features, layouts and maybe languages. Repromote it and try to find new markets for it.

Analyse what's wrong with it. Tweak your strategy, maybe you're targeting the wrong people. Maybe you can improve the copy to convert more effectively? Maybe your traffic methods are no good. Look at ways to tweak it first.

One of two things, I would give it away free as an extra incentive to purchase a better product, alternatively just rewrite the thing. Possibly fill it with decent affiliate links and give it away free as part of an opt-in list

Have you been successful with your own product? If so, SELL IT. If you feel strongly that its worth something, you're probably right. Put it into use, make money with it, and let the world know about how great it is. Better yet, give a few of them away for free, but only to people who you believe will use it. Then, as part of your give-a-way, ask for their testimonial. It's always better to get others to promote your product than yourself.

It depends on the product. We all at one time think a product will sell like hot cakes but most people think it s crap. So see if it holds a value and not just to you thinking you can make money from it. If its crap just burn it and move on.

Or maybe your are not marketing it effectively
