If you were looking for a reasonably simple *custom* cms (ignore for the moment that you could probably do the job with Joomla, WP, Mambo and a lot of time fiddling with mods) that could be used by an average business user with little or no training, how much would you be willing to pay ?

    <$100
    $100 - $499
    >$500

To have "little or no training" would mean a good editing interface ... equals >$500 to me.

Pre WordPress though, I found some good cgi scripts for editing within a page ... so that figure would be <$100 -- but assuming the site is built and no other pages need adding. But a fully fledged CMS with adding, deleting and editing pages and media -- definitely above the $500 mark.
