It's too good of a return on investment to turn it down. You've paid maybe $50 for the domain name & hosting? You've put in a few hours of work? To get paid $9000 for that is an excellent return on investment. If it were me, I'd make sure there is nothing exclusionary in their offer (for example, if they say "you cannot make another site in this market niche"), and then I'd sell and build another. They get the name, I get the money and the freedom to try again. -Tony
I would take the offer immediately! After next to no work you could be getting a 5 figure sum? Take it!
the thing now that u decided to keep it... is that u have to work harder to get that money otherwise ull be like: "jeez... now i only get xx$/month" and i could have bouth a car i had sold the domain. and i bet the guys will just buy another domain... so ull have to "fight" them. but hey!... where would be the fun if everything was easy . hehe
I know you don't sollicitate any opinions any more but i think my opinion is worth your time. That is your situation as you said. Your making a big mistake if you are recieving offers for this domain and let me explain why i think this. You say the theme is something that will be appearing on the market around Fall of 2006. So this must be a product of some sort. Your site will hold contents refering to this product? Even if the company behind the product did not as of yet filed a trademark you are or will be when the product is released infringing on their rights. This because your site refers to their product. You will cause a traffic flow to your site and ''stealing'' traffic from them by using such a descriptive domain. Because you use their product to get the attention to your site and maybe even earn some revenue through ads you are the cause they are loosing revenue and media attention. Even if the trademark has not been assigned fair use policy is in place and will cause you to loose the domain eventually through WIPO arbitration. And then you basicly have lost out on a very nice oportunity regarding the figures that are being offered as of now. To illustrate: Adsense.com is not affiliated to Google .Inc and they can continue to use the domain adsense.com because the trademark is filed after they started using the domain. Since their content is not promoting adsense their can be no claim being made on any infringement by Google. Would they indeed promote adsense in some sort of way then Google could win this case. So if you would like to squeeze something more out of it i would suggest to drop everything involved with this product you are talking about otherwise they can easily prove trademark confusion and have the fair use policy on their side. Build something entirely different around the domain even though you may loose your SERP's and stuff, in the end you will loose everything when it's out there. They have already showed persistent interest. Imagine later on? If you continue to talk about this product on this domain you will loose it eventually together with a nice oportunity to make a nice sale. If you drop the content and transfer the domain to another entity to be sure. Someone that you entirely trust and build other type of content on it then you could expect some extra offers in the future. You have no chance to continue your endevours regarding the content when this product hit the stores. And you will loose a nice oportunity. I know you did not appreciate any opinions anymore but this is something you should take in considderation. Good luck
I've sold the domain. I am now a millionaire. So no more advice is needed. ON ANYTHING. The thread is dead. Move on with your life.
back at ya, Edz. Next time do all of us a favor and try to adhere to the wishes of the thread you are posting in. Your opinions are not that vital to our existence.
