My site is affected by -950 penalty, after making a lot changes to avoid it i have noticed that the problem may be the use of same keywords in the title of each page for example: Chelsea Pics Football June | Sitename I have like 600 posts with that syntaxis, do you think that could be the reason to have my site with -950 penalty? And how would you fix it? 1.- Change all old 600 posts titles by hand and make them longer. 2.- Disallow all the old content and start making the new pages with longer titles and new mod rewrite rule (with postname in the url). 3.- I am wrong and the -950 penalty isnt related to duplicated titled pages.
First of all how can you find out that your site affected by -950 penalty? this is not in all the case, try to follow google guidelines and built proper content and meta tags which must be uniques. you can do following things 1) manage title by CMS. 2) give title and meta tags by product name. this will be helpful
I know that the site is affected by -950 penalty because i lost all the rankings and all the results of my sites appear in omitted results (If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.) I am already using a CMS. I guess that i am penalized by duplicated content because all the titles looks similar very similar.
It is very unlikely that your homepage is at #950 because of the Titles of your other pages; if that is what you are saying. More likely that this is a temporary shake up or you lost a ton of inbound links. Bompa
I wouldnt say that its a temporary shake up something that happened months ago and i never recovered old positions, and isnt just one or two good keywords. And the site isnt new, has been online for years, about losing inbound links isnt a problem.
I'd agree with Bompa; I doubt you've dropped 950 ranks in the results due to duplicate titles. But it sure as heck ain't helping you. What you do with the old 600 posts is up to you, but going forward definitely make sure you use unique title & description tags, and descriptive URLs. Now to move up in the ranks, you can do 2 things: 1) Develop backlinks. Lots of inbound links, with your target keywords in the anchor text. This is the most important. 2) Create a better internal link structure. I don't know what yours looks like, but it sounds like it's not very effective. Categorize your pages, link to the categories from the home page, link to subpages from the categories, etc., and use target keywords in the anchor text. Then develop backlinks to the category pages.
