I assume price is reasonable for you and you are asking for method to proceed. If the potential buyer can be trusted and domain name is under $1000, go with PayPal.
Otherwise, use escrow.com to proceed the transaction.

I would proceed visiting namepros' alert section because those emails coming from nowhere wanting to buy your domain are usually scams, www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts

Also discussed within this forum, in which other users have received those emails ending up with people charging them for appraisal services.

As Your Content said, I would suspect a scam. By all means do your homework, do not agree to an appraisal, and don't get burned.

    If you're asked:
    - how much would you want for your domain name
    - then given amounts like "5,000? 10,000?"
    - then recommended to do an appraisal for your domain

then it is a clear sign of a classic scam.

My 1st step would be to make sure it's not an appraisal scam, which most of them probably would be.
