What would you do if you had this domain? whatisthis.com I have had a few ideas but am really at a loss as to the best way to proceed with it. I bought the domain cheaply and now I really don't know what to do with it :(

I don't have a massive budget for this site but am willing to listen to all ideas.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback and ideas so far. I like the tutorial idea best so far.

I should have mentioned that the domain is PR6 on an old domain - not that it will probably stay that way for long, but it might just give me a head start.

    Please keep them coming. :)

You could pretty much go off on anything you want. I'd recommend build it to something you know a lot about or are good at. Then promote, add new content, etc.

I would create a single page site where a photo of only a portion of an object is visible and have people guess what it is. Post their replies(some should be pretty amusing) giving the site social and viral atributes. At the end of a specified time, give the first person who posted the correct answer a prize.

Could be looking at major traffic and Adsense revenues.

This is incredibly close to what I had in mind. I think it would be quite fun, so hopefully others would too!

The obscured picture thing seems like a good idea.

What about a site based on Letterman's "Will it Float" game? That would keep bored people entertained for hours on end, I think.

Anything related to mystery would be a good candidate. Maybe something like "what's in the bag?" where users guess what's... in the bag.
