Been in the business for a while now, though only part time as I had a full time job back in the states giving me a decent income.. moved to Thailand earlier this year and continued to consult for company in America.. Long story short they went under and now I'm having to scramble to stay positive each month... Looking at everything one thing that jumps out is as the title suggests I have a collection of 15000 email addresses from people who have submitted links to a directory I own www.nenib.com over the last 4 years any ideas how I can monetize them? My best idea to date is sending a begging letter asking for a $1 or possibly search out a click bank product..... Any input would be welcome as I really need to generate some cash Thanks in advance!
I am not sure if the emails extracted from a directory are valid or not. I have a directory as well, but I wonder if the emails are just used for one time. Newsletters is a goog way to take advantage of 15000 emails.
Figuring out what to type in the email, the hard part is to send those emails as if the most of the list is gmail google will mark the email as spam so you won't even get noticed!
Ultimatee is right being a Web designer myself I know about what pit holes most fall into. And the number one with email list is that there not targeted. If the person doesn't want that email there is now an army of software out there fighting to keep your email out of there inbox. I would recommended you start building up focused email lists. As in a list for people that like cars or people that like boating. Just so you can fine tune your emails to get the most bang for your click. I'm not saying you shouldn't try and get a product threw to these emails just don't hold your breath. Also if you don't have a product clickbank is a great place to find products to sell.
The emails are from a collection spanning over 4 years and are not targetted - You are asking for to much trouble than what it is actually worth. Many email address's could be no longer existent and if you keep hitting empty boxes your ip address, email address and if you mention a url in your email will be put on spam alerts. Most email will bounce back to you. If any emails do get though, opened and read they still need to be converted.

Your better bet is to get/buy a targeted list and use that instead. Non-targeted +not up to date list are only good for some sort of spams IMO.
