Hi, I own MyEmail.com. The site allows you to check your email online, very similar to the much more popular site mail2web.com. I created this site several years ago, and it has never really taken off to the traffic levels that I was hoping for. The site has about 10,000 logins per day, makes about $500/mo, and there is basically zero maintenance. I have been thinking about what to do with this asset, and could use some suggestions. Here are a few of my ideas... #1. Sell it on Ebay. #2. Try to sell to the owners of MySpace.com. Maybe they want MyEmail.com too. It's a great domain name. Who knows?... #3. Build a professional business email hosting service similar to webmail.us #4. Keep it and just wait. I'm leaning towards opening up a professional email service, as my team has a lot of experience in the "web hosting" sector. However, a quick sale for a lot of $$$ doesn't sound bad either. I'm just trying to earn as much money as possible from this asset. Any ideas would be much appreciated... Regards, Wyatt
Personally I think it is a great domain name and $500 per month is nothing to scoff at! #1. Don't sell it on eBay! #2. Selling it to MySpace may be a bit tricky but if you develope it and it gets really popular, they may make an offer down the track. #3. This is an option. If you want to resell premium email acoounts from Webmail.us, they have a private label programme that gives you access to their webmail programme which has a RSS reader built in and is 100% AJAX. I think the minimum is $150 worth of accounts per month but since your making $500, you could offer premium email on the side and that would pay for it. I think for memory from last year when I enquired about doing the same thing, you can make approx $10ish per year from a 10GB account and sell it for $36 per year which nowadays is very competitive. These figures are just for memory though, but it would be worth looking into. #4. Like I said, $500 per month is nothing to scoff at. You could leave it but personally I would develope it further - it's a great domain! Hope I helped.
Hi Roger, Thanks for the reply. FYI... webmail.us basically uses the same platform that MyEmail.com does. We both use Surgemail from netwinsite.com They simply use a different template set for their webmail. I was thinking about moving to a much prettier app from http://www.atmail.com/ Webmail.us boasts 60,000 clients, and with their smallest account costing $120/year, there is big money in this business. I guess what I'm asking, is if anyone can think of anything better to do with MyEmail.com then selling professional email hosting services? Regards, Wyatt
I would add a search engine, add daily news, and make it similar to yahoo. Than I would build tons of quality backlinks to help grow the website. Remember, the longer you can keep people on your website and the more you have to offer, the longer they will stay and then you will be able to create revenues from ads.
