    Hi all,

I have $500 to invest in something. What would you do with it ???

Any ideas how you would spend the money,
buying websites and optimizing for adsense or
hire some coders and create something new..

Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    thanks...

How about hire writers or forum posters to build some content?

I'd go out of my way to find some sort of hobby site or the like where the owner is barely able to pay the bills and/or is thinking about getting rid of the site.. most hobby/fan site owners have no idea how to optimize their sites for advertising and you can usually squeeze out several times more than they already get without much effort..

Besides that, fansites often get a lot of loyal traffic and most of all, good permanent inlinks.. in any case, such a site is a good investment.

Won't need much work to keep it running either.. usually you can just recruit some person that's a dedicated fan of the same subject to run it for you, or even a whole team of people should it be necessary.. they'll gladly do it for free :)

thanks guys, I currently have two ideas in mind:

1.) Create a niche forum relating to the new Nintendo Wii Console, So when when the console comes out, I will be in a very lucrative position (I have already purchsed the domain.) :|
2.) Purchasing an existing website and doing some SEO....

    hmmm...

I'd probably invest it in educational tools in the areas of SEO and website design where I'd like to have more knowledge. "The gift that keeps on giving"... ;)

500 dollars won't get far but here's how i would spend it:

    $10 Domain
$30 Hosting Account for a Year with cPANEL
$250 - Customized Template for your website (unless you are a designer)
Free --- Write your website copy --- then...
$200 High Quality Paid Only Directory Submissions - BOTW, Gimpsy, JoeAnt, GoGuides + any niche directories in your chosen industry... not until you install site content though
Free --- Free Directory Submissions ---
    Free --- Article Distribution ---
    $10 - 2 combo's at Burger King

I am learning so much everyday. Do people really hire writers for their own sites?

There are several outsourcing companies that provide writers galore - Elance, Rent-A-Coder, and ScriptLance are the biggest, I believe. If writing is a challenge, quality writers can be found at these sites, and some of them are very reasonably priced. :)

if i where you, i'd try to find something new, and hire a coder.
If it's unique and has potential promotion will be easy.

I wouldn't bother buying a website with the $500 because your not going to get too much with your money, find a niche and develop the idea. Offer a service free/paid :)

I think you can get pretty good sites for $500 because some people sell them when they are new for all sorts of reasons.
