Say the opportunity came around and you have $200k sitting in your bank account. After the excitement and the excess good feeling wears out, you sit down and ask yourself: now what? what do I do with cha-ching? Couple of things: 1. you do not know anything about stock trading and the stock market in general, "black jack" is not you're usual way of making money. You're also new to any kind of investing. 2. You've always wanted to do something to set yourself apart from the rest while creating a name for yourself. 3. You're not the showoff king jumping the exquisite life bandwagon with expensive houses, exotic rides, tossing expensive gigs and bling bling on your fingers and you're neck, different gal everyday...you get the point.... you're playing low profile. 4. You have trouble trusting people, especially when you have a relatively large chunk of money and the idea is to let them manage it for you. 5. until now, you've made the biggest decisions in your life all by yourself. 6. You're impulsive when it comes to small decision making but take a step back on the bigger things. 7. you need to move the hell out in a different dwelling and need to pay more attention to the G/F which has turned doubtful on the relationship. you'd want to play this safe with her now. I'm sure some of your answers will swirl around point 7, but what would you do if you had the money and points 1-7 applied to ya? Can't wait to see some interesting responses!
I fail to see how Arizona can be a gold mine. What's there to invest that increases the demand of housing? job market looking ever promising?
Apparently the housing market has completely bottomed out in AZ. That's all I know. I don't even know why that would be a good thing. I just know that's what people I trust are doing and why. I'm like Forrest Gump.
and then what? I can pay off my own house or put money down for serious real estate investing, buy 4-6 houses for resale.. That's long term thinking, with a minimum term of 1 yr, what's to do in between? can't just sit all day around hehheheh
Invest 1/4 of it in the stock market and invest the rest in safe investments that is insured by the government like time deposits and live off the interest.
Is this thread about ways we would invest the money? Because for me, I'm not the least bit interested in stocks and stuff like that. After taking care of my immediate family's financial needs, getting a new house in a particular part of town I've always wanted to live in... I'd start investing in people. I started from nothing (and still not far from there now, lol!). I know how difficult life is when you have nothing but ambition and desire. There are other women out there, just like me, who could use some support and encouragement. I had originally thought to start my own foundation, but decided that that was too much heavily-involved work and starts messing with my privacy issues. So I figure I will find the foundations and charities that already exist, that are doing the kinds of things I would want them to do, and invest in them. I want to help people get out of the mire and misery of poverty. And if you mention that this is no way to ensure that I have money in the future... well, I'd just get another $200K from the same place I got THIS $200K...
see, that's the thing, I put others before me. I could do a charity to promote and increase name awareness, be it my name or a company that I will build to make a living off of. this 200k didn't really fall of from the skies, they came with a lot of stress and frustration.
I thought this was a fantasy question. Are you really struggling with what to do with $200K? My apologies for being flip about this. Do what makes YOU happy. The G/F may be part of your future, she may not. Be prepared to go either way. Money changes everything for many people. But, if you loved each other before the money, and knew each other well, then the rough patch you're going thru now, needs to run its course. These are the tests that make or break relationships. I hope and pray the best for you! Good luck! ~cj
I'm scoutering for ideas. Mistakes are easily made; here I have the opportunity to further grow. G/F can go, I'm sure she'll bite her fingers off when she sees the results of neglecting her for a bit lately. come on folk, 200 bones, what do you do with them to be in my shoes.
ummm, pay off last years taxes? With 200K for free use I think I would look at creating some sort of product. IF you can get Oprah to like something and mention it on her show you'll be an overnight success. You could kick out $50K for market research into what would make her take notice of a product, and the other $150K to create and package it. Then send one to Oprah and hope like hell she calls I'll bet someone has done this in the past
I would first like to have it , then i can type endless opportunities what i could do Are you transferring it to my bank account ? LOL
