what would happen if i moved a site to a different host?

    would I lose my rankings?
could I potentially lose my rankings?
could I be banned / deindexed?
or is there absolutely no harm in it whatsoever?
If I lost rankings would I get them back and in how long?

    thanks.

no if downtime is not much (3-4 days)
if your server ip is blacklisted then may be but no harm for clean ip

its no harm in changing server but it should not be very frequent.
frequent changes may be result in lossing rankings

no, its just a case of changing hosts - always been on 1 server up to now, would hopefully have it all completed within 1 day so not much downtime

No effects if move is completed within a few hours.

Beware of servers with black listed IP numbers. I made the mistake of unknowingly going with one of these and my sites were never listed in Yahoo. It took me 6 months to determine the problem was my server. It's a process of elimination!!!

You will most likely lose any positive search engine placements you had previously achieved when a search engine spider visit your site within down time period.

Server switching can appear completely seamless to your web site visitors and search engines by uploading and testing your web site on the new server before formally initiating the change, with a temporary access URL (or some option) to ftp.

    Go ahead. :)
