I am about to install joomla on my clients site, his site is already in php and there is hours worth of content to upload. So joomlas index.php doesnt overwrite his existing site, I was planning to change his index to index.html But I am not sure will the joomla installation mean that if evening by naming his page as index.html if I go to his domain will the joomla page come up first? Just trying to work out should I just do it at night as he does not want his site down
Joomla default is index.php if you dont have any SEF extension installed, the default index.html on the server will overide joomla if its still there. Why not worked on a subdirectory first and configure everything before you transfer the whole joomla into the root? Im sure a 30 minute downtime of uploading and configuring joomla to its root wont really matter.
