What would cause this? Has Site been hacked?

I went to answer a comment left in MY blog, yesterday, and when the Comment Luv plugin tried to give me choices of which post to use as my latest post, I got a list of posts I've never seen before.

Then, when I was in the admin side, I was going to make some changes to categories. I got a whole list of categories I don't have for that blog!

I went out and did something else, and when I came back, the correct categories were there.

What would cause that? I have the latest version of Wordpress installed, hosted at HostGator.

This happened yesterday and does not seem to be happening today.

Could it possibly be related to something the webhost was doing? Or was/is my site hacked? I know next to nothing about this end of things.

Thanks for your input! I realy appreciate it!

I would guess it was a bot made just for Wordpress. Akismet can help prevent spam for Wordpress.

    You're suggesting it's spam? How?

The events occurred as I was trying either to write a comment on my own blog (logged in), or in the dashboard/admin area, working with categories.

Would a commenting spambot link me back to the bot owner's site's posts and categories?? Never heard of such a thing, but then, I don't know how spambots work, either...

However, I was recently scraped by a content scraping bot...

Edit for P.S. I already use Akismet.

Then my idea was wrong. 80% to 90 % of people who are online have a problem with infections
from malware. Malware includes spyware and adware... the whole lot.

Since you are already running Akismet for your site, I would see if perhaps some others
are not using your own keyboard ( via keyloggers, etc ) against you.

    Your question :

Would a commenting spambot link me back to the bot owner's site's posts and categories??

I dont know, but I would not put it past some destructive programmer to make such a thing.

If I were you, I would make sure my own computer is clean before
    I enter my sites.
