Let's say I have a video website that offers 500 hours of broadcast material on a certain topic. I own the copywrite etc etc and it will be unique to my site though I may allow certain partners to embed the player in their site (as an aside would that be a problem?). The subject matter should prompt people into signing up for various 'products' which I have an affiliate scheme for. However, rather than just have the option for them to sign up I want to make money from them through other means. What sort of thing would be best? The site will be branded and professionally presented and I can't help but feel that Google ads are ugly and look cheap (unless you can prove me wrong). Is the best option then to go for other affiliate schemes like Commission Junction say, or to have proven traffic and sell advert space? I'm sure there's about a million threads on this sort of subject but I don't want to mess this up. I'll continue reading and may chip in with what I've learned from searching the forums.
If your site is popular, then you can even go out and find private affiliate deals for your site (which will of course pay more).
i dont agree with google ads are ugly and cheap. if your site is recieving good amount of visitors, you can try the adsense alternative ads programs
