I m looking forward towards setting up a social networking site with a lot of features namely video sharing, blogging, audio playing etc. Naturally I m looking for a long term growth in member base with a lot of bandwidth consumption every month.

Looking into the factors , I would naturally opt for an ideal hosting that can handle the bandwidth and server loads thus generating a smooth end user experience.

Should I go for a VPS hosting or dedicated server or simple reseller hosting ? Initially I wont be having a high budget to set things off, I would better look for a cheap effective hosting plan.

Looking forward to all your kind suggestions.

Well, you should start with a VPS, you need to increase your budget if you persume yours is low.
Afterwards, when your site is big enough, you can use a dedicated server. I won't recommend you to use a normal reseller, go for VPS or dedicated.

Absolutely a managed dedicated when you get a large number of members. Depending on how strong you start out you might be able to due with a shared or VPS in the beginning and then move up to a dedi.

I'd got for a VPS at first, they can be cheap or expensive, are easily upgradeable, etc.

Then you can easily move over to a dedicated server when you have out grown or it is profitable to do so. :).
