the next wave are twitter-style search engines where results are updated by the second (think: searching for current events gives SERPs that are updated to the second)...that will kill off Google.
Another user posted this link http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/26/what-could-go-wrong-with-google-the-slideshow/ in another thread. There you'll find all the realistic points that might "kill" Google.
I think someday facebook will kill Google, probably facebook in the next couple year would have it's own search engine...
The US government can kill Google. Net neutrality would certainly kill Google. An internet version of the "fairness doctrine" could certainly affect it. If they become too big, and dominate an industry, anti-trust laws could kill them. While they're on top, I'm going to continue using Google SEO techniques and get some adsense money in my pocket. But somehow I don't think it can last forever. Nothing in business lasts forever.
It's not SO long. The "alpha" in the url is just for now, and later it will become just "Wolfram". That would be easy to remember.
the way google is now using its monopoly .. I am sure tht it will have some good competitors in short time. yahoo's traffic is increasing and I have seen many customers wants to be top in yahoo . so.. yahoo has some potential if yahoo gets a good partner.. there will not any single entity who can dominate google.. some of the companies has to merger and expand to destruct google's fort.
That's true. If someone paid people to search it could become huge, as long as the search results were good.
this discussion is so funny, I meant the answers and opinions of webmasters are really funny...thanks for making my day everyone
