What would be a good online venture for me to dab into on limited funds?

When I say limited funds, I mean next to none. I'm not looking for anything that will pay my rent at this point. However, I would like to find some ways of generating little bits of income here and there in the online community. I know it's highly plausible, I just need a little bit of direction. Any direction at that.

If you're a savvy web designer and have a fairly good grasp of SEO you can make money with very little investment.

We setup an affiliate site a couple of years ago in preparation for Christmas, focusing solely on a high price toy predicted to be a christmas top-seller.

For a $10 investment (keyword-rich domain name and hosting) and a lot of time-investment we were able to get to #1 in Google for most searches containing the name of the toy (including an exact search for the toy name) within just 1 month (approx early November). During the 6 week peak-buying time ahead of Christmas we made around $3500 in commission with no extra expenditure. With an average 5% commission per sale, we were only able to achieve a decent return by focusing only on high value items. While the number of sales were inevitably lower than what could be achieved with a low-cost item, the much higher commission more than made up for it.

I think we lucked-out slightly with our timing and product choice, but it does go to show that if you're willing to invest your time you can make money online, quickly, with very little investment.

If your not a savvy web designer and don't have a good grasp of SEO, then you should try investing your time as opposed to your money.

Check out the DP partnership forum and see if you can get in on some action by selling your services.

Well if you dont have any investment, then I would suggest you to start with writing some quality content articles on different niches. Also if you are good with photoshop, then start making some banners or logos for the people who are looking out for it. Eventually you can start some affiliate sites and make more money ;)
    All the best !!!

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I do know a little bit of SEO, however, I wouldn't say I have a good grasp on it completely. I've always wanted to learn more about it though. As far as web designing go, I need to learn that as well, but could never really get into it as much as I wanted to. Does anyone have any good Free beginning/tutorial sites they know of to help me with SEO and web design?

China I do think I'm going to start writing a blog and trying to write unique articles on products I know a bit about seeing how I'm a pretty decent writer. Thanks for that tip.

    Hi Sky9,

I am totally agreed to what w3bmaster has posted above, and would highly suggest you to go freelancing according to your current circumstances in which you can't invest too much in any business. Go ahead and register yourself with freelance websites and start bidding for work depending on your skills.

    Regards,

    Sky9,

Depending on your skillset, I have to agree with what others have said about freelancing. If you have some skills with programming, graphics, etc., you can start bidding on some small jobs. Just make sure you can deliver quality for any project you take on. If you don't have any skills, then your best bet is to spend some time building them.
