What will happen

    Im ranked no 1 on google for a particular term my website is a blogger hosted blog, will i lose my ranking if i redirect the blog to a top level domain? worried so not messing with it. any ideas.

    I don't think so. If you keep building backlinks, write seocontent all will be alright i think.

    Do a 301 redirect and also add the redirect into Google Webmaster Tools

    sure it will affect your rankings but sooner or later it might get back to the top depends on how you will promote your site.

    This will definitely affect your sites ranking initially. But if you continue the SEO process on your website, i am sure it will get back on track soon! You will need to update the site with fresh content on a regular basis. Generate huge number of backlinks through various, forums, communities, Social bookmarking, Twitter updates and Blog Commenting.

    From my point of view If you change the domain name than it will definitely give the bad effect to your ranking because content will be same for new domain.
