If I send spam emails ONE time to each person regardless of opt-in, advertising a NONPROFIT organization?

    I follow the CAN-SPAM rules:
    1. Let them unsubscribe option
    2. Label it is an advertisement
    3. Label your address
    4. Be truthful.

It's still SPAM as it is unsolicited. Besides getting in trouble with your host, there are fines. Some big spammers have been fined millions of dollars.

100% spam and you'll end up loosing everything you've worked for - is that what you want?

Chan -- don't take my word for it but you can be charged up to around $10,000 per unsolicited sent e-mail that is successfully delivered. Unless you're spamming "buy my houses" to a 90% rich list you've found with a 50% conversion rate, then it's not worth it.

    Good luck.

If you care about the non-profit, it is not worth it. There is a chance for fines and that you will be reported to your host. However, you will most likely ruin the rep of the non-profit because you will get labeled as a scam because that is what most unsolicited mailings are. I would find more ethical ways to get the word out.
