What will AOL do with DMOZ in your opinion?

What do you think that they will finally do with DMOZ?

1- Sell it off to someone

2- Get rid off all the editors, hire professionals and try to make something out of it

3- close it and forget about it

4- Let the incompetent management continue so they don't need to deal with it and die by it's own

    #3! #3!

Looks like that's what they are doing right now, so it's a no-brainer.

Now, if, after closing it and forgetting about it because of "server problems" - if they decide to bring it back temporarily... then it would be #4.

Sell it to me and I can make it a pay per link ;) lol. Seriously though I hope it doesn't die.

I would tend to agree that it is unlikely to be solely a server problem given the elapsed time. But what information do you have about what it actually is that no-one else seems to know?

    Clearly...

Isn't that what they've been doing all along? They've given it room to hang itself and that's exactly what it's been doing.

It seems some people in AOL think that DMOZ is doling it too slow and it is taking too long to die. :)

Too many cryptic answers - a straight one would be great. What do you *know* about the outage that is supposedly a server fault and has something to do with 4 possible options for DMOZ future and the AOL corporate website. Or is it guesswork/speculation?

May be AOL finally has seen DMOZ as the liability that it is and they are trying to choose one of the options to solve the problem. If I was in AOL management, I would also be very unhappy with a part of organization that generates no income, generates bad will and it also exposes the corporation to the possibility of different civil law suits and criminal investigations.

Or maybe I can not say everything that I know because other people are involved.

You go there, you ask what's the big deal ? They are not going to take your head off by asking. But people don't want to get qouted. They give you straight forward answers but never came from them. I'll just keep it to myself. I gave the link you can ask. It's no big deal to do it. But they know what's happening. I guess people are unhappy with the way things are running.

When talking out loud about important business decisions everyone from bosses to staff ignores little people moving around offices doing there work, like cleaners etc. and word spreads fast amongst them. ;)

And maybe next thing which will be found in garbage is DMOZ editor server.
