You all surf youtube and see the adsense on the results pages.
But when you enter a video- Adsense arent showen on that page, Ive seen a topic here about it b4.

    My question is:
On that same page there are also a DoubleClick banner (728x90 I guess) When you click it it leads back to a page on youtube...
What is the benifit of google to do so?

Also I have noticed that this same DoubleClick banner Has been showen on youtubes video page long time before Doubleclick has been bought by google.
I suggest that Google tested doubleclick ads on youtube to see how they do.

    What do you think?

*Note: This topic may seem to be pointless but this question troubles me a lot.

Ever since Google bought YouTube I've seen less and less advertisements (which is a good thing!). I'm not sure how they financially benefit from it, but they do seem to be focusing on user experience by providing "ads" that showcase some of the main features of YouTube.

Google owns DoubleClick. Possibly doing it for tracking purposes.

i have noticed it too before.. the double click ads (way before google bought doubleclick) were on youtube advertising only youtube content. i was also puzzled by this, but i guess google was testing doubleclick results.

    ive seen all on youtube.

doubleclick, fastclick, mediaclick, adsense, the works.

The reasons theres only ads on the search results is simply because of the fact that they only get breathing space from the DMCA if they do not directly profit from showing copyrighted - unlicensed material - as such removing the ads removes the direct profit.

DoubleClick, was on youtube before google bought it. It just happened to be a bonus for them to get access to it to see whats its like. Doubleclick is not something like adsense, its much more like openads.com .

Why use doubleclick? Well, geographical targeting, stats and trends that doubleclick can do gives google what they love, stats, trends and marking information.

Where does youtube make money? Well if its the most popular media provider, then hopefully a studio will see this power and buy a channel on youtube. CBS, parishilton, pdiddy+burger king etc.. channels are paid for channels, i have no idea how much something like that costs, but im sure they are enough to pay for themselves. The owners of thoes channels also get to put there own advertisements.

i think metacafe gets much more money than youtube from advertising because they know how to benefit from traffic. They have a lot of different ads.
