what websites can be set up and left? (so forums, blogs and hosting sites are bad)

Autoblogs are quite tricky to set up though, but can be hugely profitable if done right. Best thing of course, they are automated.
I've got a couple running right now, and I'm enjoying at least 2k uniques a month per blog. I'm mixing it up a lot though, got a couple of twitter accounts connected to them, and the organic traffic is steadily rising too. Anyhow I'm quite satisfied with my setup, but it did involve a lot of "thinking outside of the box". Downloading a premium autoblogging plugin and setting it up on your wordpress blog, sadly, won't do you any good...

 

i don't think such a site exists that can be setup and then just "left". any site, just like any business, requires constant maintenance in order for it to sustain profitability. unfortunately there are no quick and easy answers - if you put up a site and let it stagnate you will see your traffic dwindle into nothingness!

 

Video sites, membership sites, and sales pages are some quick ones I can think of.

 

enjoying 2k hits a month..I would rather enjoy $$$... then you say auto blogs do not work, but yet refer people to auto-blogs in your sig...

First of all, I never said that autoblogs do not work. I merely stated, that you should invest more time into setting them up, as once set up correctly, they'll be earning you a nice amount of money. See the notions of a good set-up with a lot of people is "let me get wp-robot and plug it into my blog, post 20 posts a day and here I go then".

This won't work. This doesn't mean autoblogging as such is not feasible. You just have to spend some time setting it up, so that it looks like a genuine authority site and not a spammy autoblog.

Those 2k hits a month convert into money if you haven't figured that out. Traffic=money.
