So from reading countless threads and posts heres what I can conclude about how Google ranks websites in its SERPs... 1. High Quality Links that go to your site has some kind of factor, how strong no one knows for sure. 2. Lots of Unique content 3. Quantity of links, more the better (Usually) YET.....time and time again I see sites with only a few pages of unique content, few links, and no PR appear higher than sites with tons of unique content and backlinks! I think that we are missing something big here people. I think that there is a huge factor that Google uses to rank sites that we are unaware of. I mean i know all this stuff and SEO helps a lot but still there is a reason sites that you would never guess Google would even notice are appearing in the #1 and #2 positions over sites with a ton of content and backlinks. Maybe im just crazy, but pay attention to the search results, and you will see in the top ten sites that PR, content, and backlinks seem to play a very little roll in the ranking of sites....
There are many factors to consider other than backlinks and PR. Suppose someone searched in Google for "few pages of unique content" and your post title is "few pages of unique content" and some high PR post title is "pages of unique content" then you will get advantage over high PR site, because Google tries to provide you exact and helpful results. this is just one example. There are many more factors to consider to rank well and you know many webmasters ranks well without any SEO optimization with low PR posts because of these factors.
actually, if you search for "pages of unique content" with quotes, Google will try to match that exact string however, if you remove the quotes and search for : pages of unique content Google will try to match each word as an individual. You can see how it works when you use the + and - search modifiers. For example, you can search for +"pages of content" -pdf and Google will search for the entire phrase and exclude anything matching pdf So that's why the issues about relative content, etc... Rankings also change because Google needs to take into account new content as well as old content.
And with new post, it's most likely that post from low PR site can show on top because when a post is new, its PR N/A for any PR N/A to PR 10 site. and if you people remember i asked one question here that one of my internal page is PR5 and main site is PR4, why this PR5 page does not add any value to my home page to make it PR5. Then i got replies that. It's not site, it's individual page. So when a post is made on say PR8 site and related subject post is made on PR0 site as well, the only advantage that PR8 post gets is fast indexing by Google, rest depend on the post quality, contents. becuase for Google, both pages are new.
Relevancy in you SEO matter, whether you are performing onpage or onpage. You need to create content which direct targets your business, the most relevant Title and Description to the page will help you alot to do better in SERP's. Always build links using your 3 or 4 targeted keywords in Anchor, and build links with relevant websites. No need to do 2 way linking or 3 way linking, you are having so many resources to build one way relevant back links for your website on the web.
